Hi folks, Andy here. If you’re just getting into solar or looking for a simple way to keep your batteries charged when you’re off the grid, this 200 watt Rich Solar kit is a solid option.

First off, the panel is tough. It’s not bendy or flimsy. It’s got a solid frame and it’s built to sit on top of your RV, camper, or van and stay put even when you’re driving through rough weather. It’s pre drilled and comes with mounting brackets, so if you’ve got a drill and a weekend, you’re good to go.

The included controller is smart enough to pull power even in cloudy conditions, and the screen gives you a quick way to check your system without digging through settings. That’s especially handy when you're camped out in a shaded spot or just want to make sure your battery’s charging before bed.

Now, what can this actually run If you’ve got a van like a Ram ProMaster, which is a pretty popular choice for vanlife folks, this kit is great for keeping the essentials powered. Think:

Your interior LED lights

Charging your phone, tablet, or even a laptop

Running a 12V fan overnight

Powering a DC fridge or cooler

Using a water pump here and there

It won’t run your A C or microwave, but it’s enough to keep your battery healthy and your gear running without cranking up a generator. And if you’re like a lot of us just trying to boondock for a couple days at a time, it’s the perfect fit.

Everything you need is in the box including heavy duty wiring, an inline fuse, and solid mounting gear. No extra shopping trips needed. And the controller is expandable too, so if you want to add more panels later, you’re already set up for it.

It’s quiet, clean, and it just works. Whether you’re out on public land, parked at a trailhead, or crashing overnight in a ProMaster van with your dog and a cup of instant coffee.

Andy’s Setup Tip: Before drilling, lay out your wiring path from roof to battery and double check the cable lengths. Seal your entry points tight and you’ll be good to go for years.

“Everything you need to power your trailer off-grid”

Hi I’m Ian and I installed the Rich Solar 400 watt kit on an enclosed trailer If you’re looking to run your lights charge phones use a fan or power a small fridge while camping this kit gives you real solar power without needing a generator

The kit comes with two solar panels a 100 amp hour Bluetooth lithium battery a smart charge controller and all the wiring and brackets you need Most of it plugs together easily so there’s not much guesswork

The Bluetooth battery is one of the best parts I could check the battery charge right from my phone That made it easy to see how much power we were getting from the sun and how full the battery was without opening anything up. Now this does not come with this kit but you can find it under RS74VR.

I installed the battery up front where the old one was ran new wire from the controller at the back and mounted the panels to roof rails instead of drilling straight into the roof That saved time and made everything more secure for rough roads

Inside I mounted the controller under the sink and the inverter under a shelf to keep them out of the way and protected I also added a cutoff switch to make it easy to switch between solar and shore power if needed

Once everything was hooked up the system powered right on The battery started charging even while we were indoors and the inverter was ready to go for basic plugs and small appliances

This setup is great for converting a cargo trailer into a camper or for anyone who wants to camp off-grid quietly It gives you the power you need for weekend trips and lets you keep your gear charged without worry

Install tip:

Use a phone-friendly battery like the one in this kit It saves you from guessing and gives you peace of mind Seal your roof well and zip tie the wires so nothing shifts while you travel

Real power for longer trips without the noise

Hey folks Andy here If you are planning to spend more time off the grid and want something that actually keeps your battery charged without hauling out a generator this 400 watt kit from Rich Solar is a great pick

You get two sturdy solar panels that mount to your roof and a smart 40 amp controller that pulls in power even when the sun is not perfect The whole setup is designed to be practical and long lasting

So who is this really for:
People with a van or small RV who want to run lights a fan and a fridge for a few days
Campers who dry camp on public land and want to charge phones or laptops
Anyone who wants to keep a water pump going and avoid starting up a loud generator
Folks with a small cabin or hunting trailer who need quiet steady power

The kit comes ready to go with all the cables brackets and a fuse so you will not be running out mid install to grab extras The wires are the right size the panel frames are solid and the instructions are straightforward

It will not run an air conditioner but it will absolutely keep your basics powered comfortably so you can enjoy the peace and quiet a little longer

Andys Tip:
Lay out where your cables will go before you mount anything Seal the entry points and take your time You can knock this out in a weekend and it will pay off every trip after

  • Will Rich Solar Kit Interfere With Shore Power Or Generator On Newer Jayco Camper?
Great question Amanda, and the short answer is nope, not at all. Solar plays nice with your existing RV power setup. Here’s how it works on something like the Rich Solar Charging System Kit - 400 Watts # RS97VR: A solar kit charges the batteries during the day using sunlight. When you plug into shore power, your converter takes over and also charges the batteries. If you fire up the generator, it works the same way, charging the batteries just like shore power would. The MPPT charge controller...

  • Can I Power 12v Fridge And CPAP Machine With 400W Rich Solar Kit For 4-5 Days Off Grid?
Absolutely, Susan! The Rich Solar 400W RV Solar Panel Kit # RS97VR kit paired with a pair of 100Ah lithium batteries will comfortably power a 12V compressor fridge, a CPAP for 8 hours, and still have headroom for lights, fans, and charging electronics. In good sunlight, that 400W kit can deliver 120–140Ah per day with its MPPT controller maximizing efficiency. If you're dry camping off-grid, this is a nice sweet spot for performance and value. Do you have any other electronics you plan to run?

  • How Many Watt Solar Panel For 100ah Lithium Battery In Jayco Popup Camper?
Hey Henrick, yes I can help you out with finding a good solar panel for the Rich Solar Alpha 1 Pro Lithium Battery # RS74VR. First let's do some quick math based on your electronics: A 12V fridge (60W × 10 hours) = 600Wh LED lights, fan, phone charging = 150Wh Total: ~750Wh per day You’ll need at least 750Wh of solar charging per day just to break even. If you used a 100w kit # RS27VR, you would be helping the battery from discharging as quickly, but it's not going to be enough to keep...

  • Can 100W Or 200W Solar Kit From Rich Solar Power AC Unit In 2017 Jayco Greyhawk Travel Trailer?
Hi Alicia, we get this question a lot, and its a really important one if you’re trying to stay cool while off-grid. The short answer is: unfortunately, the Rich Solar 100w kit # RS27VR and 200w # RS37VR won’t be able to power your air conditioner directly, but we have a kit that will! Here’s why: air conditioners, even smaller RV rooftop models like a 13,500 BTU unit, draw a lot of power, typically around 1,200–1,500 watts continuous, and even more at startup. The # RS27VR is a 100-watt...

Not at all, Kate! The Rich Solar RV Solar Charging Kit w/ 2 Panels - 12V - 400 Watts # RS97VR is ideal for bus life. It’s a great match for a 200Ah lithium setup, with headroom for adding an inverter or third battery later if you decide to do so. The general rule of thumb is to fit as much solar as you can, since most people feel like they could always have more free energy from our beautiful sun. • How Much Power Can A 100W Solar Panel Put Out On Forest River R Pod?
Good morning Brianna! On a good sunny day, a 100W panel like the Rich Solar # RS27VR can produce about 30–35 amp-hours of power over 5–6 hours of direct sun. That’s ~6 amps of charge per hour which is enough to recharge a partially depleted 100Ah battery like the Rich Solar Alpha Lithium Battery # RS74VR, run your lights and phone chargers, and top you off for the evening. Its not enough for heavy draws like a DC fridge, TV, or microwave, but for basic weekend use, its plenty. We often...

  • Is Rich Solar Kit For RVS A DIY Install Or Is Certified Technician Needed?
Great question, and the short answer is yes, you can definitely install the 200 Watt Rich Solar Kit # RS37VR yourself, as long as you're comfortable with basic tools, 12V wiring, and sealing roof holes. We have quite a few DIYers in the etrailer community who’ve had great success installing Rich Solar kits on their RVs, trailers, and even van builds. • Are Rich Solar Panels And Kits Compatible With Lithium Batteries?
Yes! The Rich Solar panels and kits work great with lithium; the important thing is to make sure your charge controller supports lithium charging profiles. Many newer controllers do, but some older PWM types don’t. If you’re using a lithium battery like a Battle Born 100Ah, we recommend pairing this panel with a lithium-compatible MPPT controller to ensure proper voltage and charge cycles. Also, in case you want a specific compatibility list, here you go: lithium, gel, AGM, wet, crystal,...

  • Will Rich Solar RV Kit RS97VR 400w Keep Batteries Charged While Boondocking For A Week In CO?
Absolutely, Tom. The Rich Solar RV panel kit # RS97VR 400-watt output is perfect for multi-day boondocking trips. One customer, Debra from Durango, ran her microwave, 12V fridge, and lights for a 5-day dry camp in San Juan Forest without dropping below 12.3V on her 400Ah lithium bank. If you’re planning extended stays, we recommend ensuring your battery bank matches the system's potential, at least 400Ah. If you’re unsure, we’d be happy to walk you through a power audit.
